St. Francis Tau Pendant - Handmade in Scotland
Antiqued Brass Tau Pendant on Leather Cord
2” High - 17 3/4" Long Cord
A striking expression of Franciscan faith, this substantial St. Francis Tau Cross Necklace brings Saint Francis and the Tau together in one beautifully detailed design. Francis stands with arms outstretched to form the crossbar of the Tau, while the folds of his habit become its stem. Doves surround him in deep relief, recalling his love for all creation and his belief that every creature is called to praise its Creator.
The reverse features a small bee—a meaningful symbol of Franciscan care for even the smallest parts of creation. Early accounts of Saint Francis tell of his concern for bees during the cold of winter, making this tiny detail a fitting reminder of his compassion and attentiveness to all living things.
Created in 2026 to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the Transitus of Saint Francis, the design reflects the simplicity, humility, peace and care for creation that continue to define his Franciscan witness.
Handmade in Paisley, Scotland, the necklace features an original double-sided Tau pendant with a richly textured, antiqued-brass finish. Its substantial relief and intentionally aged surface give the piece a distinctive, handcrafted character that becomes even more personal through wearing and handling.
Finished with a genuine brown leather cord measuring approximately 17.7" (45 cm) and a short extension chain for additional adjustment. *Please note, this is a relatively short necklace and will sit close to the base of the neck on many adults.
Designed by Fiach O'Broin-Molloy and handmade in Paisley Scotland.
